Expert Shutter celebrates 20-year anniversary..

Expert Shutter Services, Inc., Port St. Lucie, FL, celebrates its 20th anniversary and owners Michael and Jamie Heissenberg wish to thank their many customers for making it possible.

The family operated business located on Florida’s Treasure Coast started in a small garage with only three employees, all of whom are still employed there. Since then, Expert Shutters Services expanded along with the surrounding community and moved into a small, rented warehouse in 1990. Two years later, the company expanded again, adding more company vehicles, machinery and employees. (see HP, Spring 2005, page 12)

COMMUNITY MINDED
To facilitate its growth, Expert Shutter became a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturing Round Table. Selected employees have taken business courses at Indian River Community College and have attended management and custom service seminars. With the importance of the community in mind, the company also contributes to the local police and firefighters, the Salvation Army, and sponsors many sport teams. The company donates to the American Red Cross, where Michael Heissenberg is a member on the Martin County Chapter board of directors. Expert Shutters believes that remembering and giving back to those that give to you is essential.

The company is also a member of the American Shutter Systems Association, Inc. Michael Heissenberg always strives to enhance the product. He now has two patents on product improvement and has others pending.
Expert Shutter Services manufactures and installs all types of hurricane protection and offers all aspects of the products’ maintenance. Expert Shutter strives to arrive at the job, in a company vehicle, as promptly as possible and with its employees wearing a company uniform and a friendly face.

Expert Shutter prides itself for its quality employees. Employee longevity has been the key to the company’s growth. Peter Blais, repair department supervisor, has been employed with the company for 19 years. Phillip Estes and Sonny Lebran, new installation supervisors, have been employed there 13 years. Tom Truxal, sales director, and Betty Leonard, office manager, have been employed there 12 years. With such longevity of employee service, a sense of comfort is instilled in the company’s clients. By seeing familiar, friendly faces and communicating on a more personal level, the clients have established trust and rapport with the company.

SIDE-BY-SIDE
When Expert Shutter Services, Inc. states it is family owned and operated, it is not an overstatement. Currently seven family members work side-by-side on location and oversee the company’s wellbeing. The owners’ twin sons, Michael and Christopher, have worked at the company for 10 years (since they were legally allowed to) and proudly build their father’s products. When calling the office for new shutters or service, customers more than likely will speak to the twins’ wives, Megan and Danielle.

Becoming successful small business owners and setting down roots for their children is all Michael and Jamie ever wanted. In reaching the company’s 20th anniversary, they have done just that.
